Thu May 29, 2008 China Education Resources Updates Progress on China's First Comprehensive Education Services Portal (ESP)
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(May 29, 2008) - China Education Resources Inc. ("CER," the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:CHN) (OTCQX:CHNUF) - announced today that more than 800 schools have applied for enrollment in its Education Services Portal (ESP). Over 300 schools are currently enrolled in ESP, including over 300,000 education administrators, teachers and students. In addition, CER announced that it would be using its CERSP platform to teach 17,000 teachers from four provinces and 2,600 schools as part of the Ministry of Education's (MOE) Teacher training program.
"Our comprehensive web portal system and business architecture are coming together nicely," said CER Chairman & CEO, Mr. Chengfeng Zhou, "We are testing our services commercialization plan and are optimistic that we will have our standardized version deployed this July." Currently, customers are able to select one of 3 payment options when buying online service credits; online bank debit card; online "Quick Money" (similar to PayPal); and offline post office money orders.
The Company has also deployed it first online education game through the ESP portal, making CER the 1st mover in China's education gaming market. Chairman Zhou commented, "Personally, I am very excited about this new service line. Education should be fun and practical, so children can have a very positive education experience and want to learn more." The game promotes learning the English language, with multiple levels of play and can be used in grades 3-12. CER has plans to develop more games for other subjects. CER and master teachers believe this method of education fits well with the MOE's stated objective of developing a creative approach to learning.
CER's subsidiary, Today's Teacher Technology Company (TTTC), worked closely with MOE's Curriculum Development Center (CDC) for three years to develop China's most comprehensive education portal system -- CERSP; which is considered by most teacher experts to have the best online teacher training content available in China. CERSP experiences the highest K-12 Education usage rate, with over 10 million unique hits daily and ESP is one 36 subordinate education internet portals. Other sub-portals include K-12 subject areas, such as Math, History and Physics, and the popular Teacher Blog portal, with over 600,000 users.
